1 Girl, Many Cups Bowls

May 20th, 2010 | 1 comment | Posted by Diana

Did y’all happen to notice the halftime show during Game 2 of the so-far-tragic Suns/Lakers Western Conference Finals, which aired live last night?

If not, you missed this spectacular spectacle:

A little homework has revealed that this multitasking unicyclist is no NBA rookie. Her name is Krystal Liu, but her performing name is: KRYSTAL, THE RED PANDA ACROBAT. And she does tons of halftime shoes for NCAA Basketball and NBA games. Those are BOWLS she’s balancing on her head while riding around on a one-wheeled, zillion-feet-tall cycle while wearing a mini-jumper. CERAMIC BOWLS! MINI-JUMPER! THIS SHIT IS BANANAS!

But come on, guys… homegirl is SO not a red panda. I know a fuzzin’ panda when I see one.

Thanks, RJ!

You know there’s something seriously fucked going on in Arizona when people who dribble a ball for a living demonstrate a better understanding of the law there than the people who came up with the law in the first place.

Grant Hill *swoon*

Before the game, Suns point guard Steve Nash, who is Canadian, spoke out against the law on ESPN’s Pardon the Interruption:

I’m against it. I think this is a bill that really damages our civil liberties, I think it opens up potential for racial profiling and racism. I think that it’s a bad precedent to set for young people. I think it represents our state poorly in the eyes of the nation and the world.

BANG. That’s like a classic late-in-the-game Steve Nash shot from behind the arc that Continue reading SPORTS ILLUSTRASIAN: Viva Los Suns

Today we honor the 34th birthday of Honorasian Steve Nash, point guard for the Phoenix Suns. We love point guards particularly cuz they’re compact, nimble, and smart–Nash is all of those things turned up to eleven. Happy Birthday, Steve! You’re a god!

Reverse Successism

May 3rd, 2007 | 0 comments | Posted by Jen

Yesterday, the AP reported on NBA players’ reactions to the study that concluded officiating was biased. Kobe “Beef Boy” Bryant said, “I think I’ve gotten more techs from black refs than white refs…That’s reverse racism probably.”

Beef Boy. Think about it. If you’ve gotten more technical foul calls from black refs, and you think that’s “reverse racism,” then you would have to be wh–

Wait. What am I doing? I’m totally burying the headline:

Sun sets on Lakers

“Suns 119 Lakers 110: Nash and Co. beat Los Angeles in five”

Kobe Beef Tartar…yum!

Racism Schmacism! Fakers lose in 5!
