Happy birthday to Soon-Yi Previn, who turns 39 today!

It’s hard to believe it’s been 17 years since the affair between then 21 year-old Soon-Yi and her sorta-kinda-stepdad, Woody Allen, 35 years her senior, came to light. And yet despite all of that time passing, and the fact that she and Allen eventually married and adopted two children, Soon-Yi’s name is still synonymous with “sex scandal.” In the last two months alone, the adopted Korean daughter of Mia Farrow and Andre Previn has been associated with starting the Asian trophy wife “trend,” Mackenzie Phillips’s shocking reveal that she had a 10 year-incestuous affair with her biological father John, Roman Polanski’s rape of a 13 year-old girl, and even David Letterman’s affairs with his staffers.

From the outset, Soon-Yi has denied she was ever “raped, molested, or manipulated” by Allen, but that assertion seems to have done little to her legacy. In another 17 birthdays, will she remain one of the reigning icons of impropriety, incest, and sexual misconduct? Only time will tell.

At Least She’s Not an Ice Queen, Assassin, or Lesbian Vampire

I am so pleased to announce that Lucy Liu has decided to go against type and play a funny, eccentric, slightly psycho chick in a quirky romantic comedy with Cillian Murphy (also playing against type, since he already does creepy androgyny so well).

They star together in Watching the Detectives, a flick in which a film noir buff (Murphy) gets his world rocked by a real-life femme fatalezzzZZZZZZzz played by LiuzZZzzz.

But again! Bravo for those brave actors who dare to take chances!

…Hrmm. In this case it’s like, WAY against type. I mean, at 39 Liu’s skin is friggin’ baby-smooth, but homegirl seems to me more like a homeWOMAN. She looks like she could nurse poor lil’ skinny Cillian. ‘Naw mean?

Holy Matrimasian, Part 2

Hi Everyone! Greetings from Mongolia!

I came to witness the nuptials of my dear friends Bao Xishun (the world’s reigning tallest man) and Xia Shujian (the world’s reigning tallest man’s wife). They actually married in a civil ceremony back in March, but held the gung-ho traditional ceremony this week in front of 2,000+ people.

Wow! What a sight. The bride was a young, gorgeous lady in red and the groom looked old and tall. And oh… what a night! When the toasts were made, everyone got a good laugh from the joke about “how Big Bao is tall pretty big and long everywhere.” She certainly had a treat waiting for her that night, methinks!

Anyhoo, off to pack up my bags and go home. I can’t stay in Mongolia forever!

hugs and kisses,
