Your Baby, Too, Can Look Like Obama’s Kin! [AMAZIAN JR. BABY PHOTO CONTEST]
We couldn’t help but squeal this week when, while cyberstalking casually browsing through AP photos of the Obama and Ng families during vacation time in D.C., we discovered another picture show of little Savita!
Imagine our delight when we realized that our Baby of the week spent the holiday rocking one of our favorite tiny clothes designers: Kumquat! (Perhaps you’ve noticed Giant Robot’s love for the baby brand, as well.)

You kinda have to look closely to see past the harness, but she’s definitely wearing the Organic Squirrel Tree collection (also pictured above, right):
So we got to thinking. Shouldn’t every baby deserve to look as cute as the President’s niece? Shouldn’t all children have an equal opportunity to adorn their munchkin legs with hip prints and soft, organic cotton? We sure think so.
That, friends, is why we’ve partnered up with Kumquat to bring you this week’s AMAZIAN JR. BABY PHOTO CONTEST!!! (We’re looking for cute photos of Asian and Asian-mix babies. We know that babies of all ethnicities are cute, but we happen to have an especial desire to collect photos of those munchkins with at least a drop of yellow in ‘em. Please understand!)
Here’s the lowdown.
- Entrants must only submit photos of babies they know personally.
- Entrants must only submit photos they own and have permission to share (Please don’t even bother trolling the web for photos of random cute Asian babies; we’ve already done it and will definitely recognize ‘em!).
- Photos must be of tykes between the ages of 0 and 3.
- Photos must be cute.
- Please limit your submissions to 2 photos per baby, maximum 10 babies.
- Submission cutoff is 11:59pm PST on Friday, October 9.
- The winning photo will be selected by DISGRASIAN and Kumquat, and posted on Monday, October 12.
- Contest winner will receive a $50 Gift Certificate for Kumquat! WOW!
- Note that all babies, not just cute Asian babies, look cuter in Kumquat.
PLEASE SUBMIT ENTRY PHOTOS TO info@disgrasian.com.
GOOD LUCK!

AMAZIAN OF THE WEEK! Moshe Kai Cavalin
Age: 11
Hails from: Los Angeles
Occupation: Student
Known for: Graduating (with a degree in astrophysics, natch), at his young age, from East Los Angeles College with an AA degree and a 4.0 GPA.
As if our parents didn’t hate us enough for waiting until our teens to finish high school: news that an adorable, dutiful kid can easily rocket through college while mastering martial arts techniques and displaying mighty charisma, citing “hard work” as opposed to “genius” for his achievements, is sure to fuel the fire.
Sigh. He’s even better in action. Check out video of the little bugger:

Nice Tatas
Dear Automobile God,
Please, please, please, please, please send me one of the new, teeny-tiny Tata Nano cars, which debuted in Mumbai this week.

I know that I accidentally killed my iPod Nano by drunkenly irresponsibly dropping it into a crevice of my car–where it was later crushed beyond recognition by a moving part. But I’m different now! I am ready to take care of something cute and crushable, for real this time.
If I got a Tata Nano, I would love it, clean it, cuddle with it, give it fresh fuel every day. Ooh! And I would cawess its wittle steewing wheel and tell it how adowable it is, all the time! I would bring it to meet other wittle Nanos, and they could woll awound together. I would give it a name, like “Dano,” so that it could be known as “Dano,” The Wee Nano. What a sweet, sweet, wittle baby Nano I would waise!
I realize that these darling cars are in high demand, but I hope you can find a way to bestow one upon me. I prayed to the Technology God once, and he or she gave Jen an iPhone 3G. But I promise if you answer this request, I will pray to you more than once. Maybe three times!
Thanks in advance, and I can’t wait to get my Nano.
Love,
Diana

Lil’ Smokey
I, like everyone else, am horrified by the sight of this very young child lighting and smoking a cigarette [via Videogum]–with the experienced hand of an ancient, alcoholic writer, no less–while in the care of adults:
Just horrified!
(Okay, guys, I know this is fucked up, but am I the only one that’s a teeny weeny weeny eeny weeny bit impressed by his smooth lighting technique, cool exhale, and aloof slouch? Just askin’.)

And for the Record…
The little bear costume I intend to buy for Jen’s future offspring looks like this:

…NOT this:

Or–shit, is that baby actually in a monkey costume?
