DISGRASIAN OF THE WEAK! Who Framed Seemona Sumasar?

July 29th, 2011 | 1 comment | Posted by Diana

The story of 36-year-old single mom Seemona Sumasar (detailed earlier this week by the NYT), pictured above, is a pretty sad one. A self-made Morgan Stanley analyst-turned-restaurateur, Sumasar had her life together when she met Jerry Ramrattan (pictured below), who, according to the Times, “said he was a police detective, but never seemed to go to work. He seemed obsessed with C.S.I., Law & Order and other television police dramas.” They started dating, and he ended up moving in. Over time she became suspicious about the fact that he lied constantly, and for the next year begged him to leave, though he refused.

In March of 2009, Ramrattan reportedly cornered her, taped her mouth, and raped her. After she pressed charges, he sent people to intimidate her. When she wouldn’t drop the charges, Ramrattan–free on bail–framed her.

Shirley Sherrod

Back in March, Andrew Breitbart wrote a post called “2010: A Race Odyssey — Disproving a Negative for Cash Prizes or, How the Civil Rights Movement Jumped the Shark” for Big Journalism, one of his five websites, in which he claimed that accusations of racism are merely a “trick” of the Left:

As I have said over and over and over, the left has one trick that it will use again and again when its back is in the corner: shout ‘racist’ in a crowded country.

Which is funny, given how Breitbart was the first to post that heavily-edited and manipulated video of USDA employee Shirley Sherrod giving a speech at an NAACP event, and the first to call Sherrod’s speech racist:

“In this piece you will see video evidence of racism coming from a federal appointee and NAACP award recipient and in another clip from the same event a perfect rationalization for why the Tea Party needs to exist.”

That video, which appeared on July 19, touched off a two day-orgy on the part of the right wing-media, in which not only Sherrod, but the NAACP, civil rights activists, the so-called mainstream media, the Obama administration, and pretty much anyone who’s ever been engaged or concerned with race issues was labeled racist. Media Matters For America has a full timeline, but here are a few highlights:

“The—this woman on tape saying these racially charged things that she didn’t want to help farmers, in particular white farmer. That she said she wanted him to go out and deal with one of his own and she put him in touch with a white lawyer. Just the latest in a series of racial incidents.”–Sean Hannity, Hannity, July 19

“The former civil rights group known as the NAACP does not just invite anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan and radical America-hating Marxist Jeremiah Wright to speak at their events…They also invite government officials who hate whitey Continue reading DISGRASIAN OF THE WEAK! The Sherrod Charade

I Have A Dream For Tila Tequila

February 23rd, 2010 | 4 comments | Posted by Diana

…that one day, diarrhea of the mouth will cease to ail her, her internal fictions will subside…

…and that she will be immortalized in the flesh:

Tila has never looked cuter!

Only then will she truly be at peace.

Make Your Brain Hurt: Sarah Palin’s Facebook Page

August 12th, 2009 | 0 comments | Posted by Diana

Unlike my more tolerant friends (yes, YOU, G Scott and Norman), I can’t watch Fox News every day or even listen to the raving lunacy of Limbaugh once in awhile, just to be sure I’m on top of every single word that the right wing nutjobs are sputtering. Sometimes I just don’t want to know. I can’t deal. It hurts my soul, all that shouting and all of those incessant jokes.

But the flurryfaloo that resulted from the “death panel” comment former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin posted on her Facebook last week piqued my interest somehow, and awakened that tiny part of me that intentionally smells sour milk–especially as I kept reading the following excerpt:

“The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society,’ whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.”

This statement, by the way, has been deemed by non-partisan fact checker PolitiFact is “pants on fire” false. And if DISGRASIAN had a Shame-O-Meter on our site, we’d definitely have to tag this one as “downright shameless.”

It all got me wondering. What’s a “civilian” like Sarah Palin up to on Facebook, anyway? Does she play a ton of Scrabble? Does she give $1 gifts to friends, like AK-47s and cartoon bibles? Does she start membership groups for “Parents of babies with Down Syndrome who refer to those babies only as ‘babies with Down Syndrome’ as if they aren’t, simply put, babies” or “People for Palin 2012?”

But upon further investigation, I realized, it’s all about Sarah’s Facebook wall:

…and I, uh, I immediately remembered why I don’t listen to these nutjobs. Why bother getting upset about those stupid “Nazi’s” and their feelings about “Obamma” and “Hillry?” Why??

DISGRASIAN OF THE WEAK! A Tale of Two Attacks on Campaign Volunteers

October 24th, 2008 | 0 comments | Posted by Jen

Within the last week, two female campaign volunteers, one for Obama, the other for McCain, have been attacked because of their political allegiances. The first incident happened last Saturday in Caledonia, WI, when 58 year-old Chicagoan Nancy Takehara was canvassing a residential neighborhood and was assaulted by an angry homeowner who is a McCain supporter. Takehara told a local news station that she was “grabbed…by the back of the neck” and that her attacker, who believed that she was affiliated with ACORN, “was pounding on my head and screaming.” Her attacker has since admitted to grabbing Takehara’s hair, and the police are investigating. The second incident allegedly occurred Wednesday, when 20 year-old Ashley Todd of College Station, TX (my birthplace, wouldn’t you know?), told police that she was mugged at an ATM by a black man in Pittsburgh, where Todd was volunteering at a McCain phone bank, and then beaten when her attacker saw that she had a McCain bumper sticker on her car. She also alleged that her attacker carved a “B” on her right cheek with a dull knife, which the McCain campaign’s Pennsylvania Communications Director immediately told state reporters stood for “Barack,” before all the facts were known about the assault.

Now, we don’t stand for violence. Sure, sometimes we kid and say things like we’re going to beat so-and-so’s ass or cut a certain douchetard’s dick off, but we are using hyperbole in those instances and–

This just in…

Today, Pittsburgh Assistant Police Chief Maurita Bryant told reporters that Todd has since admitted “…she was in her vehicle driving around, and she came up with this idea. She said she has prior mental problems and doesn’t know how the backward letter ‘B’ got on her face.” (Well, we’ll tell you how that backwards “B” got on her face: she cut herself while looking in the mirror and is such a stupid twat that she didn’t realize mirrors reverse images. Good job, DumbAsh!)

Meanwhile, the attack on Nancy Takehara was all too real. And, as we said before, committing physical violence against someone who holds a different opinion from your own is reprehensible and not to be tolerated under any circumstances.

Not that we wouldn’t love to give that lying little shit Ashley a matching shiner right about now.

(P.S. Do you Twitter? Ashley Todd was part of a group called 50 College Republicans, which broadcasts their doings at Life in the Field (DumbAsh’s blog for them has since been deleted). They use the hashtag “#litf08″ for their Tweets. Here’s a fun way to usher in your weekend…plug in #litf08 in your Tweets with your own, uh, Ashley Todd observations, et voila…it shows up on their site! Happy Friday!)

DISGRASIAN OF THE WEAK! Barry "Perjury Shmerjury" Bonds

December 7th, 2007 | 0 comments | Posted by Diana

Barry Bonds, aka fat Juicer aka lying cheating steroid-taking asshat, showed his absolute aversion to shame today when he entered his not guilty plea in court for charges of perjury.

The Associated Press reports:

The indictment charges Bonds with lying when he testified he never knowingly used performance-enhancing drugs, even though prosecutors say he flunked a private steroids test in 2000. Bonds’ personal surgeon, Dr. Arthur Ting, collected the blood sample and is expected to be called as a witness if Bonds’ case goes to trial.

Bonds, after a big display of waving and smiling to fans, maintained his innocence. And frankly, we didn’t buy it–not that it matters.

Perhaps his defense attorney, Allen Ruby, said it best: “Mr. Bonds is a Major League Baseball player.”

‘Nuff said.

Zi Beijia, the reporter responsible for the now-ubiquitous falsified report (above) on cardboard being used in Beijing street food, has been arrested by Chinese police. The arrest provides only some satisfaction for the many people who were duped by the report and were forced to reckon with the hurricane of retractions, shame, and humiliasian that resulted: well, US for starters…and Beijing TV, and China, and Asia, and news outlets around the world who were all suckered by the falsehoods. And innocent citizens around everywhere!

I did a little rummaging around and found a few people who have some words to share with the guilty “reporter.” Observe:

“Stop copying.”

“Those are LIES, Zi Beijia.”

“You’re a Towel!

“Wow, dude. That was really fucked up.”

“Are you for cereal?”

“You’re a liar!”

Story Fabricrasian

“It’s fun to make up the facts!”

Reading the first lines of Margaret Talbot’s piece on lie detection in this month’s New Yorker–in which she reminisces at length about being duped by Stephen Glass at The New Republic, my gut reaction was that this reference is simply irrelevant for 2007. Glass? We’ve heard and seen enough about that little liar by now, and quite frankly, that kind of thing just wouldn’t happen today. As aware and careful and technologically advanced as we are now, we would never be in a position where one wiley journalist could fudge the facts to a major news corporation with such ease.

Maybe not. On Monday I posted about a shocking Beijing TV investigative report from that busted Chinese street vendors for putting chemically-softened carboard in their baozi buns. I was blown away, appalled, disappointed in our Beijing streets.

Until, of course, I read on that the entire investigative report had been produced and fabricated by one very wiley Chinese journalist.

Beijing authorities said investigations had found that an employee surnamed Zi had fabricated the report to garner “higher audience ratings”, the China Daily said on Thursday.

Zi had provided all the cardboard and asked the vendor to soak it. It’s all cheating,” the paper quoted a government notice as saying.

I must say, I’m frustrated by Zi’s actions, but the real disgrace is that we all fell for his sham. This isn’t the first time the Internet successfully spread a fake news story about Crazy Asian Behavior without much question–of course the slant-eyes are capable of this shit! Why doubt it?

I suppose that little liar isn’t so irrelevant after all. Don’t tell him I said that.

You’re Bloggin’ Me Down

May 8th, 2007 | 0 comments | Posted by Diana

Dear John, author of the blog Got Rice?:

Jen and I were so excited when we saw that there was a website called “Got Rice?”… quite frankly, the answer was and is YES. We were like, “Woohoo! Is it crispy rice? Is it short grain? Is it brown?” We love it all. Mmm. So we checked you out.

First off, your logline kinda sucks: “Not your mama’s expat?” Oof. That doesn”t make any sense– but whatever, a logline is hard to come up with (and not everybody can use “You’re a Disgrace. To the Race.”). Regardless, Got Rice? has promise.

Wow… about you? You have the sentence structure of a second grader. You sound like a nerd. Please let “Asian female form :) ” refer to porcelain statues of female Chinese warriors from the early 20th century. Please…

Oh my GOD! You didn’t mean porcelain statues of female Chinese warriors from the early 20th century!!! You have a RUNNING LIST OF HALF NAKED “ASIAN BEAUTIES” ON YOUR BORING-ASS BLOG. You have moved to China to trick some sad, unassuming woman with no grasp of English to give you your first hand job, hoping she won’t notice that your sad, shriveled boyhood is no bigger than a Sharpie. Ugh! You BLOW. You’re BORING. You’re LAME.

Good gracious, John. The next time you promise “rice” and don’t deliver, you’re gonna get a little something from me, and it’s gonna taste like knuckle sandwich.

Talk soon! K.I.T.
