Karma Police

May 29th, 2008 | 0 comments | Posted by Diana

After assessing the financial hit they might take–from a few million angry Chinese folks with a penchant for luxury items–after the face of their brand tossed last week’s tragic earthquake off as “karma” for the Chinese/Tibetan conflict, Dior apparently got their heads on straight and pulled all ads containing Sharon Stone’s crazy face from China.

The NY Times reports:

Dior released a statement in which Ms. Stone apologized, saying: “Due to my inappropriate words and acts during the interview, I feel deeply sorry and sad about hurting Chinese people. I am willing to take part in the relief work of China’s earthquake, and wholly devote myself to helping affected Chinese people.”

So Stone hurt the Chinese people, even though she “doesn’t think that anyone should be unkind to anyone else.” And then she got publicly shamed by the media and lost her lucrative endorsement deal?

Hmm. Is that karma?

DISGRASIAN OF THE WEAK! Nathan Jones and Jessica Maroclo

December 14th, 2007 | 0 comments | Posted by Diana

April 16, the day of the Virginia Tech shooting, was one of the ugliest, most shameful, and deeply sad days of our American lives.

Which is why we, like the rest of the media and most of America, were so shocked and appalled to see this photo:

…which was one of many taken at a Halloween party in October, that emerged on Facebook this week.

Nathan Jones, the ignorant asshole on the left, has served as a figurehead for the group by helming all of the unapologetic, emotionless responses to media. His story: the costumes were intended to meet a tradition of distaste, the photos were not meant to go public, the people in the costumes aren’t to blame–the girl that leaked the photos is, if people are offended by the pictures they simply shouldn’t look at them, and most importantly–he will “never ever ever” apologize for the costumes, because that would be insincere.

Jones can fiddle-faddle with his casually verbose commentary on the media machine and the how people should be paying attention to other world issues:

I wish people would raise this much awareness and outrage about human trafficking and slavery here and abroad, scientific funding from our government, child labor, education in faith based schools, woman’s rights, racism, the environment, the Neo-Con Iran agenda, or hell, I’d even settle for everyone, who joined those facebook hate groups, using fair trade coffee.
Honor the VT victims by remembering the past and how you felt, but don’t loose sight of what is important today and in our future.

…but ultimately, the fact that he can’t just sack up and admit that he and his friends did something sick, vulgar, and base that (inadvertantly or not) has hurt many people, just shows how big of a life waste he is.

And let’s not forget that the bitch on the right (and some four-eyes from another photo) haven’t uttered a peep since this story broke. Maybe they’re too ashamed. Oh God, I hope so.
