Pandargarten

Aw, look, a panda kindergarten! Let’s watch the video:

Waitaminute, what the heck kind of kindergarten is this? Where are the books and the pencils? Where is the discipline? Where are the uncomfortable desks? Why aren’t the pandas queueing up in perfect lines, reciting memorized poems and literary selections? Where are the abacuses? Where are the violins?

Lucky Money

January 2nd, 2008 | 0 comments | Posted by Diana

I am not a lucky woman. I can lose $40 on penny slots in 13 minutes, my ticket never gets called for the Plasma TV in the raffle, I never find five bucks on the sidewalk. It’s cool, I’m perfectly fine with it, but one thing I don’t even bother doing is gamble. No poker in the City of Commerce, no slots in Vegas, and definitely no playing the stupid Lotto.

So some kid, a student in China’s Nanjing, has the gumption to buy a lottery ticket and the luck, the goshdarned luck, to win the whole thing to the tune of roughly $640k this week… and promptly drops out of college. Even I, the unluckiest woman in the west, cannot condone that. For starters, that much money is going to run out quick. Next, luck is lucky, but nothing replaces a good education. Third, oh my god, I sound like my father.
