July 10th, 2008 | 0 comments | Posted by Jen

DISGRASIANtern Jasmine informed us this morning that Takeshi Kaneshiro (Chungking Express, House of Flying Daggers) will be the new face of Armani for fall/winter, which marks the first time the Italian label has used an Asian model in that role:

Kaneshiro for Armani F/W ’09

I should be stoked, but I couldn’t help thinking…face?

David Beckham for Armani Underwear

Thanks, Jasmine!

"What Made U Among the LOSERS"

This creepola video–allegedly made by radical Islamists in the UK–has been making the rounds on the internet.

I guess those religious dudes don’t dig “footie” and hip-hop. But what I really want to know is, am I a terrorist sympathizer for thinking these thoughts after I watched it…?

Well, yes, if you mean criminally untalented.
Given Snoop’s rap sheet, you’re not gonna get an argument out of me.
I mean, which one?
You can put a fatwa on a dead guy? I mean, a REALLY DEAD guy?
A little late to the party, don’t you think?

Bend Over, Beckham

A writer has documented his visit to a Buddhist temple in Bangkok that features a golden David Beckham statue built into the altar.

He writes:

“The statue itself is definitely Beckham, sporting his floppy haircut from nearly a decade ago and even with the sponsorship logo Sharp picked out on his chest. It’s about half a metre high… the statue was installed at the temple in 1998 as part of the World Cup celebrations by Thai sculptor Thongruang Haemhod. According to this BBC News story, Thongruang wanted to add it because football is the new religion, and the temple’s abbot agreed.”

Football as “the new religion?” Sure.

But David Beckham as a deity?

Beckham: He may have the body of a god, but he sure as hell ain’t one.

Beckham not happy Chinese company trademarked his name

“A company in Wenzhou of the Zhejiang province has registered “David Beckham” as a trademark for its eye glasses products. When the real David Beckham learned of this, however, he entrusted a company in Beijing to express his objections to the China Trade Mark Office.

In 2006, a company in Wenzhou registered the famous NBA star “Yao Ming” as a trademark for its feminine napkins.”

Becks. They trademarked your name for EYEGLASSES and Yao Ming’s for FEMININE NAPKINS. Duuuuuude–don’t sweat the small stuff.
