Name: Peggy Wang
Hails from: Brooklyn
Why She’s a Babe: Besides rocking badass broom bangs, a darling hipster fashion sense, and one absolutely perfect pucker, she’s basically our dream chick. This lady sports great taste in web filler, bears a deep love for hard liquor, puts her piano talents to good use, Continue reading BABEWATCH: Peggy Wang

Remind me never to be caught alone in the same room with this shameless, angry woman:
…cuz she will do terrible, terrible things to me. And she will not be sorry. She does not appear to even feel the sensation of sorry.
[Ed note: Most unfortunately, Harding's old skate practice space is one of my Portland haunts (it boasts a fantastic dive bar), so there is a wee chance that if she ever takes a walk down memory lane, she may actually run into me and bust a cap on my ass. Please pray that she does not.]

Alright, alright. If you’ve been following I Am Spoonbender for years, don’t hate. I’m slow. I just realized that one of my favorite chicks, Robynn Iwata (guitar-plucker from the now-defunct Vancouver band, cub), has been rocking keys, vox, and freaky-rad bangs for IAS since ’97.
It’s everything that’s good about Electro-prog-indie-synth-fuzz-werk–disjointed, spacey, futuristic, danceable, visceral tunes that infiltrate your dreams. What have I been doing without it for the last decade? Just crying, motionless, here on Earth, I suppose.
Jessica Alba thinks she’s one of us. In the latest issue of Elle magazine, she says:
“…there aren’t many other stars, besides Halle Berry and Jennifer Lopez, who most people in the world can related to. We look like people of the world – I can kind of mix in with girls in Asia, South America, Europe.”
Okay. Let’s consider this for a second.
Like me, Jessica Alba played the violin:
Welcome to the tribe, Jessica Alba!
*Okay, this is not exactly true.
Holy frijoles, Kate Beckinsale! For a minute there, we totally thought you were Jennifer Garner! Maybe she’s part-Burmese, too? We sure hope so, ‘cuz we like her, even thought we don’t know exactly why.
Hails from: Australia by way of Singapore
Why She’s a Babe: We hate to repeat ourselves, but we’re suckers for a cute Asian chick who can rock those bangs. And not only does Nicole have great hair, she also has great skin, sunkissed the color of a hot beach bunny (to which the above pic does not do justice). And she plays “Bec,” one of the bitchy popular girls, in our latest obsession, Summer Heights High, a hilarious, 8-episode, Australian comedy that our friend Nathan turned us on to.
HBO recently bought the rights to this Office-set-in-high-school series, in which creator Chris Lilley plays the three lead characters–so look out for it in June! If you can’t wait that long, buy the DVD here.
Happy 58th birthday to Japan’s favorite Korean-born singer, Akiko Wada! We love the many countries you call home, the fact that you are the voice of Koopa in Super Mario Bros., and your incredible ability to rock such a sweeeeeeet haircut (it takes a good face).
Let the rest of your year be like a pretty song.
Why She’s a Babe: She can wear a bag on her head and still look cool. We also love her bangs. And because Kim writes a blog called I Like to Fork Myself, a zany, irreverent diary of her fashism experiences, where she, too, documented her love of the Japanese “We Are the World.”
Check out Daul Kim working the runway here.
Today would have been the 103rd birthday of our heroine, Hollywood film actress Anna May Wong. This fierce tigress may have passed on to the film set in the sky over four decades ago, but we consider her a trailblazer for Amazian ladies and consider her (and her fabulous hair) around us at all times.
Happy Birthday in the heavens!
