The annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is here! Which means, for all of you single hetero dudes out there, Valentine’s Day is today. And pretty much every day hereafter, considering there are 17 models in the issue, and about 40 pictures of each of them in the online edition, which, if you mete out your intake of it, should last you through the apocalypse of 2012, and then some.
The 2011 Swimsuit Issue features two hapa hotties (ha-tties?): Jessica Gomes, an Australian native of Portuguese and Chinese descent, and Chrissy Teigen, a Utahan who’s Thai and Norwegian.

Name: Yiying Lu
Hails from: Sydney, Australia
Occupation: Artist and Graphic Designer
Why She’s a Babe: All you Twitter users are already familiar with Yiying’s iconic logo, the Fail Whale, an adorable creature buoyed by birds that pops up whenever Twitter gets overloaded with traffic, which is a lot, lately. What you may not know is that Yiying is as cute as her creation. Or that she doesn’t earn revenue from the perpetual use of her design, apart from the Fail Whale gift items available on Zazzle. Which seems kinda messed up–though legal–especially since Twitter is the fastest-growing social media platform in the sea. Just sayin’.
Hails from: Perth, Australia
Ethnicity: Portuguesian (father is Portuguese, mother is Singaporean Chinese)
Why She’s a Babe: Being in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue two years running–in 2008 and the newly-released 2009–automatically qualifies Jessica, obvs. But even in a field of hotties–Leo DiCaprio’s GF Bar Rafaeli graces the 2009 cover–the Portuguesian model’s face stands out. And we mean that literally, because you may have noticed that homegirl’s rockin’ a moonface, and we love moonfaces, even if we sometimes try to minimize our own. Also, Entertainment Weekly gave Jessica props for “best water shot” and…wait, what the fuck is a “water shot”?!
Hails from: Australia
Occupation: Olympic diver
Known for: Her work on the 10M platform (solo and synchronized), being the youngest and smallest diver (at 4’6″ and 81 lbs.) to ever represent Australia, winning the silver at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, making this oh-so-Hardass quote her mantra: “Strong minds suffer without complaining, weak minds complain without suffering.”
Judging by her Takkle profile, which lists her favorite movies as Borat and Jackass and her favorite TV shows as Little Britain, Family Guy, and Summer Heights High, Melissa, who is half-Chinese (from her father’s side), also has winning sense –i.e. our kind–of humor.
Hails from: Australia by way of Singapore
Why She’s a Babe: We hate to repeat ourselves, but we’re suckers for a cute Asian chick who can rock those bangs. And not only does Nicole have great hair, she also has great skin, sunkissed the color of a hot beach bunny (to which the above pic does not do justice). And she plays “Bec,” one of the bitchy popular girls, in our latest obsession, Summer Heights High, a hilarious, 8-episode, Australian comedy that our friend Nathan turned us on to.
HBO recently bought the rights to this Office-set-in-high-school series, in which creator Chris Lilley plays the three lead characters–so look out for it in June! If you can’t wait that long, buy the DVD here.
