Ann Curry Missed Out On The Time Of My Life
…when she said no to a Dirty Dancing lift by our boyfriend, the Goz. Like, WHAT? WHY? And with those hawt pink come-hither heels on? Surely she didn’t MEAN to refuse. But she did. Maybe the temptation was too much. I know if I was in hawt pink come-hither heels with Ryan Gosling asking to lift me into the air–like Baby who nobody puts in a corner OMG OMG this is the stuff of my teenage DREAMS–I too would be scared of an overexcitement pee or embarrassing squeal. But not too scared to say YES.
Anyway, who took up the slack? Al Roker. Seriously.
Oh, I would give anything to be Al Roker!!! And wow, did I really just write that? Is this what the Goz DOES to me?!?!?!?!? Weird. Whatever. I love it.

Thanks, Tina!

The World Embraces Liu Wei, Armless Piano Player

Perhaps, like me, you’ve already watched video of China’s Got Talent contestant Liu Wei, thanks to the magic of the Internet. Liu is a 23-year old musical prodigy who was electrocuted during a game of hide-and-seek at age 10, costing him his arms but not his passion for piano–he now plays miraculously with his toes.
Maybe, like me, you shared the video with everyone you knew, because the combo of Richard Clayderman tuneage and this adorable, spirited kid’s incredible story were simply too much to keep to yourself. And then of course you watched it with your parents; together you cried, commented, and mentally hugged (to actually hug might’ve been too awkward). And even though they thanked you for sharing the video with them, you could tell they were also wondering why, given your many lessons and ten fingers, you never made anything of your piano playing.

We’d Rather Punch Ourselves In The Neck Than Listen To A Jason Mraz Tune, BUT…
…add a ukulele and a munchkin. We melt. We simply melt.
And we forget all about Mraz’s stupid hats and all of that “Mr. A to Z” garbage.
Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. OH!!!!! [wombs a-rumble]

BABEWATCH: Dinky Ninja Bears
Sure, plushies are everywhere. But the Dinky Ninja Bears, which we just discovered this week via Twitter, are something special. Is it the indefinite tummy forms? Their tiny arms? Their lack of mouths? We don’t know! But somehow they perfectly encapsulate the essence of adorably incapable silent ninjas with cute little ears and pseudo-appendages, and we can’t stop loving them.

Pretty Dinky

ROPID: Cuter Than A Baby Prawn
Meet Ropid (Rapid + Robot), a new robot just unveiled by scientists in Japan that jumps, responds to directions…
…and is about 10,396,574 more adorable and fun to watch than your obnoxious little cousin with 1 year of ballet and 4 years of piano lessons under her belt, who your aunt dresses up in stupid party dresses every time there’s the teeniest, mundane family function going on–who she will HUSH AN ENTIRE ROOM FOR (sometimes even an NBA Playoff game) so that the little fucker can sing a song and dance it out, then follow with an encore presentasian of a plunked-out, shitty Sonatina on the piano.
10,396,574 more adorable and fun to watch than your cuz. And you can turn it off.

Announcing… The WINNER Of The AMAZIAN JR. BABY PHOTO CONTEST!

UPSHOT TO HOSTING A PHOTO CONTEST FOR CUTE AMAZIAN BABY PICTURES: Your ploy to collect the world’s awesomest picture gallery of cutie patooties totally works, and you realize that (phew!) your readers not only have great taste in blogs/baby clothes, but also have pretty damn good genetics. You marvel at how much better you feel knowing that your audience is even more attractive than you thought. You totally (and selfishly) feel encouraged, convinced that your own future children will be adorable. You smile a lot. You sigh a LOT. You say “awwwwwwwwwwohmygoodnessbabiesbabiesbabies!!!” over and over and over again with giggles of glee.
DOWNSIDE TO HOSTING A PHOTO CONTEST FOR CUTE AMAZIAN BABY PICTURES: You realize that every photo you receive is the cutest photo you’ve ever seen. You realize that choosing between them is more difficult than picking an outfit for the first day of sixth grade. You spend many sleepless nights, tossing and turning, trying to decide which makes your heart skip more, Lily’s eyelashes or Kaiya’s Cheeks or Idris’s brows or Hero’s frown or Oscar’s bear ear hoodie. You decide to focus on photo composition and things like lighting/focus, but realize you don’t know jack about that stuff. You give up and lean on a psychic for help.
But through the ups and downs, we’ve enjoyed every single frickin’ minute of our very first AMAZIAN JR. BABY PHOTO CONTEST. SO LET’S GET TO THE GOOD PART!
The grand prize winner, who will receive a $50 Gift Certificate to Kumquat, is…
Congratulasians to Sophia and her parents! We can’t wait to see you rocking your new Kumquat garb!
But wait, there’s more.
What y’all didn’t know is that our first runner-up will be receiving a $25 Gift Certificate to Kumquat as well! Woohoo!!!
And the first runner-up photo is:
Penelope, 3 years
Guys, we couldn’t be more serious–we struggled so much to choose between all of these too-cute photos, especially when each little face made our wombs do a cheer. They’re simply too good to keep to ourselves, so we’re sharing all of the submissions with you (click to play)! ENJOY!!!
And to all of those parents out there, we highly recommend outfitting your little ones in Kumquat all day, every day. All of your cute photos will be EVEN CUTER, as if that’s even possible!!!

Your Baby, Too, Can Look Like Obama’s Kin! [AMAZIAN JR. BABY PHOTO CONTEST]
We couldn’t help but squeal this week when, while cyberstalking casually browsing through AP photos of the Obama and Ng families during vacation time in D.C., we discovered another picture show of little Savita!
Imagine our delight when we realized that our Baby of the week spent the holiday rocking one of our favorite tiny clothes designers: Kumquat! (Perhaps you’ve noticed Giant Robot’s love for the baby brand, as well.)

You kinda have to look closely to see past the harness, but she’s definitely wearing the Organic Squirrel Tree collection (also pictured above, right):
So we got to thinking. Shouldn’t every baby deserve to look as cute as the President’s niece? Shouldn’t all children have an equal opportunity to adorn their munchkin legs with hip prints and soft, organic cotton? We sure think so.
That, friends, is why we’ve partnered up with Kumquat to bring you this week’s AMAZIAN JR. BABY PHOTO CONTEST!!! (We’re looking for cute photos of Asian and Asian-mix babies. We know that babies of all ethnicities are cute, but we happen to have an especial desire to collect photos of those munchkins with at least a drop of yellow in ‘em. Please understand!)
Here’s the lowdown.
- Entrants must only submit photos of babies they know personally.
- Entrants must only submit photos they own and have permission to share (Please don’t even bother trolling the web for photos of random cute Asian babies; we’ve already done it and will definitely recognize ‘em!).
- Photos must be of tykes between the ages of 0 and 3.
- Photos must be cute.
- Please limit your submissions to 2 photos per baby, maximum 10 babies.
- Submission cutoff is 11:59pm PST on Friday, October 9.
- The winning photo will be selected by DISGRASIAN and Kumquat, and posted on Monday, October 12.
- Contest winner will receive a $50 Gift Certificate for Kumquat! WOW!
- Note that all babies, not just cute Asian babies, look cuter in Kumquat.
PLEASE SUBMIT ENTRY PHOTOS TO info@disgrasian.com.
GOOD LUCK!

BABEWATCH: The Ladies of White On Rice
For those of us that didn’t get to see White on Rice while it was collecting raves along the festival circuit, this month’s theatrical release (L.A. friends, see you at the Sunset Laemmle?) is awwwfully exciting.
If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, get ready for a spike of adorable in your bloodstream:
There’s only one thing that seems wrong about the film, which is, um, how distractingly gorgeous female lead Lynn Chen is. Silky skin, perfect bow lips, rosy cheeks, bright and twinkly eyes? Hate her! (Okay, we actually crush on her, but right now our jealousy overrides.)
Chen: About as fair to womankind as Barbie
Doe-eyed Nae…but dammit, now all we want to do is watch their purty faces for two hours on the big screen–which reveals the cardinal rule of filmmaking (whoever has told you that the the most important elements are beautiful storytelling or groundbreaking cinematography is lying): every movie is about a million times better with lots of hot chicks.

This Could Be the Last DISGRASIAN™ Post Ever
Intern Jasmine thought it would be a good idea to send us this video of eight perfect, precious, cuddly baby pandas playing with each other and their toys in a little baby crib.
The good news is that this is potentially the cutest fucking thing I have ever seen.
Which means we at DISGRASIAN™ may be finished.
Goddamn you, Jasmine. Goddamn you! (Oh wait!! I’ve still got it…!)
Thanks, Jasmine!

AMAZIAN OF THE WEEK! Moshe Kai Cavalin
Age: 11
Hails from: Los Angeles
Occupation: Student
Known for: Graduating (with a degree in astrophysics, natch), at his young age, from East Los Angeles College with an AA degree and a 4.0 GPA.
As if our parents didn’t hate us enough for waiting until our teens to finish high school: news that an adorable, dutiful kid can easily rocket through college while mastering martial arts techniques and displaying mighty charisma, citing “hard work” as opposed to “genius” for his achievements, is sure to fuel the fire.
Sigh. He’s even better in action. Check out video of the little bugger:
