It happens every four years. No, I’m not just talking about the Olympics. I’m talking about the selection of an official Olympics Boyfriend. It started for me in ’84 with gymnast Mitch Gaylord and kind of never stopped. The requirements for an Olympics Boyfriend are simple: hot, hot, a little bit adorable, and hot. The great thing, too, about Olympics Boyfriends is–to quote Wooderson–while you get older, they stay the same age.
Olympics Boyfriends are the ultimate summer fling: you get two glorious weeks together during the dog days of summer when you’re too hot to do anything but wear as little clothes as possible and flirt. (Which is why you never have a Winter Olympics Boyfriend. Too many clothes to deal with.) And then you’re audi and on to the next thing, left with no attachments other than your sweet summer memories of this:
