DISGRASIAN OF THE WEAK! Limbaugh Supporter Faxes Death Threats To CA State Senator Leland Yee
Whoever said that a lazy racist isn’t an effective one?
Last week, Rush Limbaugh’s ching-chong impression of Hu Jintao caused a major stir. Some people were shocked, some weren’t surprised, heaps were deeply offended, scads joined in on a collective smack of the forehead. More definitively, a group of Asian-American lawmakers, led by Sen. Leland Yee (D-CA), demanded an apology for the comments.
Limbaugh–always a victim of the left–called his racist tirade “a service.” But I call it a big, sweaty, hairy back off of which even more brainless (Imagine!), more hateful, more ignorant, more racist dickburgers saw the opportunity to leapfrog, into a space much more dark, even dangerous.
Take for example, a death threat that was sent by one of those ignorant dickburgers to Sen. Yee, by fax, on Wednesday, in defense of Limbaugh:

Y’know, I’m sure this “letter” seems perfectly reasonable to its sender. And I assume that said sender feels well within his pussy-ass, chickenshit rights to anonymously fax [Ed. note--Not gonna be anonymous for long, buddy!] it to Senator Yee. But how much of a confidence boost did he get from Limbaugh’s indignation on the matter of that Hu “translation?” Or let’s back up a bit–how much easier was it to alienate so many inscrutable “others” with them being so hilariously being mocked on the radio? Would he, could he have hit the green send button on this death threat without a sign from God (or God’s messenger, Rush) that it was somehow okay?
That’s what racist jokery can lead to–the idea that the next racist step and the next are a all just a leeeettle more okay. Hearing someone above you make a seemingly innocuous joke makes it easier to make a vulgar joke, which makes it easier to make a vulgar comment, which makes it easier to concretize those punchline assumptions into real and powerful beliefs, which makes it easier to… go to a very dark, even dangerous place.
So yeah, we want that apology. NOW.
