Name: George Takei
Occupation: Actor, Activist
Hails from: Los Angeles, CA
Why He’s A Babe: That rumbling voice. The megawatt smile. That studly jawline. Those balls of steel!
George Takei is most commonly known for his role as Mr. Sulu, a character he has given life to since 1966. But in addition to a rather illustrious, well-rounded acting career, Takei has also long taken on the task of reprzentasian–not only being a member of a community but standing up for it. Takei wears his life on his sleeve, like merit badges–speaking loudly and proudly about his notable experiences as a Japanese American (his family was interned during WWII from 1942-1945), a pioneering Asian American Actor, and a gay husband (he and Brad Altman, who married in 2008, were the first gay couple on The Newlywed Game).
But it’s not all serious stuff. Takei now also speaks for the electronics brand Sharp, in a new commercial presenting their breakthrough Quattron quad pixel technology—which introduces YELLOW into the previously red/green/blue pixel standard. In a way we’ve never seen before, more yellow will vastly improve our televisual experience (Ed note: WE could have told you that!):
You’ve gotta hand it to the man. He’s always on message. That is so hot.
