The world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa (formerly known as Burj Dubai, only just renamed for the Abu Dhabi ruler and country’s president, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan), was unveiled today in Dubai.
You might hear a lot about the building’s designer, Georgio Armani, and the architecture/engineering firm, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. But, as the Korea Herald put it, “Koreans have reason to join in the celebration,” for “[Samsung]‘s fast but meticulous construction work adding a story in three days at times, putting a total of 8 million cubic feet of concrete, 31,000 tons of reinforcing steel and 167,000 square feet of stainless steel into the structure.”
The tower, despite a global financial crisis, opened in 5 years, nearly on schedule–damn! Let’s hear it for punctuality, perserverence, and for always pursuing the biggest and best!
