By now, you’ve bought the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ new record, It’s Blitz! You’ve listened to it 100 times, indoors, outdoors, in the car, sun on your face, praying for Spring. You caught them on SNL last week, when they not only performed the album’s first single, “Zero,” but also dusted off their alt-anthem “Maps,” aka The Song You Put on Repeat Whenever You’re Really Down in the Dumps and Need a Good Motherfucking Cathartic Cry. Perhaps you’ll watch them perform tonight on Jimmy Fallon, provided you can actually sit through Jimmy Fallon’s awkward, wooden joke-telling.
Now listen to “Zero” remixed by one of my favorite bands, Animal Collective. It’s not dance-y like the original, with voice distortions that make it sound like Karen O’s ripping a Dr. Pepper-fueled belch on the word “leather,” but it’s great for the come-down after the party:
