Nerve.com just came out with “The 50 Buzziest Blog Posts of All Time” list, and Stuff White People Like’s “#11 Asian Girls” ranks eighth, with Trent Lott endorsing segregation and that guyliner-wearing gay who cried for Britney placing higher, among others.
And I’m like, WHAT? WE DIDN’T COME IN FIRST?! THIS IS SOME BULLFUCKINSHIT.
But really, I have nothing smart to say about why this is. Until last week, I didn’t even know that the post was written by an Asian dude, Myles Valentin, who is Filipino-Canadian (read it on Racialicious, originally posted on Restructure!). Valentin is the other (yes, I mean that both ways) contributor to SWPL, and he’s written about ten percent of the blog, although usually everyone only ever hears about Christian Lander, who is white-Canadian. That makes Valentin Lander’s oh-so-convenient “Asian Friend,” as in, “I can say that, because I have an Asian Friend.”
None of this, however, explains why that post has been so buzz-y since it was published in January. But I’m guessing it has something to do with the fact that when I google “Asian Girls,” I get 10,500,000 entries, and most of them are porn-related.
PORN = POPULAR
ASIAN GIRLS = PORN
ASIAN GIRLS = POPULAR
Sigh. Now I’m wondering why Diana and I are wasting our time blogging for free, when we could be posting naked pictures of ourselves here and making some cash-money instead. Which would then mean…
THESE ASIAN GIRLS = SOON-TO-BE RICH BITCHES
