We Asians are not huggers. My dad told me recently that, when I was born, he actually went around and asked his American friends how exactly one goes about hugging his own children.
So when I first heard about the Free Hugs campaign that took off after a certain “Juan Mann” posted a YouTube video of himself giving away hugs in Sydney, I was skeptical. I figured this was some kind of lunatic pervy-thing, and I wanted no part of it.
But the Free Hugs movement has gone worldwide and recently hit Hong Kong, where Reuters captured this touchy-feely video:
On second thought, I think this might be just what our peeps need.
I think I’m now ready to hug it out. Who’s with me?
