Jessica Stam (who I love) is on her third Vogue Nippon cover of the year this month. Other models that have graced the glossy front since its launch last year: Sasha Pivovarova and Lily Donaldson. And lots of Asian models–no wait, check that, NO Asian models.
Here’s the thing. I love a beautiful pale face as much as the next person, but would it kill us to show the Japanese reader that an Asian woman epitomizes fashion too?
I mean, unless they don’t (though I think The Sartorialist would beg to differ). Is that what you’re trying to tell us, Vogue?
